The West Show takes place on the Wednesday & Thursday of every third week of August & is about 5mins walk from La Pointe Farm.
It is a great day out for all the family & combines old traditional with new displays. The highlight of the show is a display by locals called the Pageant. Original period clothing is worn during a re-telling of history with a humorous element! The costumes are from a range of classes from farm workers to high society & the whole thing is enjoyed year after year by visitors to the Island & locals alike.
The show really surpassed themselves in 2005 by actually creating a small lake & putting a full sized original boat in it to re-tell a story about smuggling in Guernsey a couple of centuries ago! I wonder how they are going to beat that next time?
As well as the pictures on this page there is much more going on, from a barn dance Guernsey evening to Crown & Anchor (our own type of gambling) From a live local band in the Beer Tent to the Scout Band.
There is also the tents where the people of the Western Parishes exhibit & compete against each other.... crafts, baking, vegetables, flowers, fur & feather, model gardens, painting etc.
